Also, finally getting around to pricing and listing the originals for sale. This isn't a full list, but it's a good start.

While doing it, it occurred to me (duh!) that another perfect perk for Patrons of a project is to get discounts on buying related things. So, in this case, if you donated even a dollar to finance the Aphorisms, you can get $50 off one of the original paintings. Not a bad deal!

I'm still figuring out how to weave these things together. But hopefully, it will all make sense at some point...

Not sure how many of you play free online games, but I play Cybernations and the alliance I'm a part of has graphics for fictional decorations for war service, nation assistance, and forum activity among others. People awarded these decorations put them in their forum sig lines.

So, since my nation is somewhat based on Frank Herbert's "Dune", I quickly made up ribbons for the Sardaukar, the soldier-fanatics of Salusa Secundus. These ribbons come from the "Dune Encyclopedia".

Battle Merit

My favorite of the worst.. seriously, Muhammad Ali versus the Cavity Creeps? No, for even the Cavity Creeps are somewhat cool, in a Eighties nostalgic sort of way, this is "Mr. Tooth Decay!" Lamest villain.. ever.

Like everything else when it comes to the worst and the best, it is all subjective, but to be honest these album covers are really, really tacky and awful. Post your worst album cover!

Subject:No Refusal Weekend - There shall be blood!
Security:Public
Mood: busy

Here in the Chicagoland area, one of the counties, Kane, is planning to force people suspect of DUI submit to a judge ordered blood test during upcoming, unannounced "No Refusal Weekends". In short what this means is if an office suspects you are driving under the influence and you refuse to submit to a Breathalyzer test, the police now can hall you over to the sheriff station, where prosecutors will draft a search warrant, call a judge to approve it, and then have a phlebotomist draw your blood by force if necessary, to collect evidence of your alleged guilt.

Officials claim this is to close a loophole where people can refuse the blood test, currently, first-time offenders who decline the test face a three-month suspension of driving privileges, a repeat offender gets three years. A lack of blood sample, according to prosecutors, makes it more difficult to get a conviction for a DUI case.

What is really frightening about this, in addition to the random road blocks and searches police use to weed out potential drunks, is this assumption of guilt that is used to justify forcefully taking blood in order to prosecute someone. Justified in the eyes of state's attorney John Barsanti:

"We believe it is lawful to use force to obtain these samples," Barsanti said. "The reason you refuse is because you know you've been drinking and you know you're probably over (the state's legal limit of .08 percent blood-alcohol content)."

Ah yes, the old "if your not guilty, you have nothing to worry about!" argument. This is the argument of the tyrant, it came conceivably be used to justify any governmental abuse over one's constitutional rights. Search and seizure without a warrant? Well you'd only object if your guilty otherwise you have nothing to worry about, right? See the problem with such thinking? It essentially gives an excuse to those in power to do what they like, since "the guilty" only need to fear, of course is also assumes guilt in the first place, by the same people who define what defines guilty no less.

No need to point out that both ideas are so utterly unconstitutional, right? You would think that…

Look, no one is pro-drunk driver, but using unconstitutional methods such as assumption of guilt to justify forceful tactics is not the way to go about solving the problem. Will it reduce the amount of drunk drivers on the road? Most likely, but reduction in crime has never been an excuse to violate people's rights, no matter how emotionally appealing it may be.

I am happy with my bookplate design, finally, so it's time to request information of the 55 people who sponsored the Aphorisms!

I need:

1. The name you want me to dedicate the book to;

2. Your current mailing address! It's been quite a while since the Aphorisms, I know a lot of you have moved.

Comments to this entry are screened, so your address will remain anonymous. I'd much prefer you respond here than in email, since I am email-swamped and I don't want to lose track of this!

Finally... after all of these years i get to be in front of a machine on FM!
Today the model I was supposed to direct for FM cancelled and we could
not find another one, so TC said "go clean out your ass" and well... I did!
It was really fun and will be added to a pick up scene I will be shooting
with Amber Rayne next week for FM!

Also, just cruising the internet found a link about the book signing
demo that Damon Pierce and I did for Dave Naz's L.A. Bondage book.
http://www.laist.com/2007/12/13/la_bondage.php

Tonight and for the rest of the week I am here at the Armory in SF.
Tomorrow I shoot with my good friend Jandi for Wired, then my sister
is flying in to have a mini vacation of San Francisco with me. She has
never been here before and I am very excited to be able to show her
around. SF is her kind of place.

Subject:men crying

B called again and said..."Do you really want to break me?!" I asked what the hell are you talking about.  It turns out that He's always wanted this type of relationship with a woman and he's now terrified that I will simply leave him when he gives me his most.  I assured him that I wasn't that type of person but if he wanted reference there are plenty of folks that can stand by me.

He was so emotional and then I knew that as his future Mistress I needed to be there emotionally for him.  He has had a lot of loss in the last few years and all of that loss stemmed from his acknowledging of who he really was. My heart broke out to him and we talked a bit. He really wants to serve me but is afraid but he can't stop thinking about me at the same time.

There is a lot of pain and I know that, we will work on that. Working on personal pain and helping a person is a what a real Mistress does. I intend on honoring that when B finally get to call me Mistress.

btw B told me he was crying tonight, he was lost and wanted a anchor to hold on to, I was his anchor.  The task I had given him was at the same time enticing but scary, I finally had made it real for him, he really needed to talk to me.

I comforted him but I also knew that this could break our relationship, experience told me to just be there for him and listen. I did.

You know people think of male slaves as this  type of person and I never do, they are just like me and I always put myself in thier our shoes. B has assured me again tonight that he realy wants to make me proud and while that is nice to hear I am holding back a bit.

a link that you all should see and know what I mean....It's not easy get that man back when you unintentionally make him cry.

BTW I have never ever seen Amo cry except on our wedding day, it was too much for me and I am glad that his tears were tears of joy.

Subject:AC Update / MFM Attendance?
Security:Public

Emailed Petercat about the Art Show (Thanks for the reminder, [info]vulpesrex) and got a prompt reply back.

Apparently, he's fallen a bit behind in notifications, but he's working to get them all out. I got mine shortly after his reply that he had received my paperwork, so anyone who didn't get a confirmation of paperwork received will be getting their notification shortly.

They're still doling out panels, so we won't know exactly how many panels we got til later, but anyone who mailed in their paperwork on time and received notification of receiving it, will get at least SOME panels.

Oh, I'm table G-02 in the Dealer's Den too. So! AC....ready or not, here I come. Bills need to get paid, so AC be good to me, LOL! =)

Hopefully I'll see most of you at AC this year.

---------

MFM: I'm a little disheartened at this year's MFM. A lot of my friends don't seem to be going. MFM hasn't even announced their GOH yet on the website, and that's unusual for any convention to get this far along (only 3 months til MFM!) and not even announce that much. It's as if no one cares about MFM this year. In addition, I know there are some folks who are skipping MFM in favor of DragonCon this year, whose dates overlap MFM's.

I'm already pre-regged for MFM, and I already asked for the time off, but now I'm wondering if I should even bother, especially with gas and flight prices the way they are now.

Below is a poll checklist for anyone who wants to note what cons they're attending this year.
You can comment if your con isn't in the poll...I just threw in a few quickies and didn't list everything.
Off to work now for me.

Poll #1188017 AC / MFM Attendance

Subject:My car, it gleams!
Security:Public

So I've been meaning for some time to get my car in for it's regular maintenance, and also to have it cleaned. It's been years since it had a solid cleaning, and currently I park it under a tree.

Plants were starting to grow out of the dirt that had accumulated around the windows and on the floor. No kidding.

A friend of mine is currently between jobs, so today I paid her to drive it to the dealer, for the oil change and detail work. And, as it turns out, brake pad replacement.

Now my car is shiny again, it gleams.

I'm getting more convinced about the concept of "outsource your life".

Califur beckons me west, as does my plane reservation.  No stop-overs this time!  Tomorrow I will land at Ontario Ariport, God willing, and let the moisture evaporate from my poor skin.  Then I will stay with my parents until I get that hotel room on Friday, so perhaps fun will happen.  Monday we are going to the Long Beach Aquarium, for instance.  I would also like to revisit Crystal Cove Beach.  Mostly I just crave Del Taco.

I hope to see you locals!

Subject:The Fairy Tale Artist
Security:Public

"Hey, come see, it's the fairy tale artist!"

The Cultural Center down the street has art exhibits and art classes, and while I have no time to take or teach the latter I like coming by and seeing what they're hanging. But it was while I was trying to enroll my daughter in their baby music class that one of them teased out of me that I draw.

"You draw?"

"A little," I say, mindful that I no longer do as much as I used to. A few hours a week is definitely the smallest slice of my life right now.

"What do you draw?"

I grin. "I paint dragons and wizards. Fairy tales."

"Oh, you must bring some of it for us to see!"

"All right," I say.

So I do. I bring Willow and Hadara, the Bone Dancer, Morgan and the Calligrapher. "Illustrative work," one of the women says.

I nod. "For fantasies."

They are delighted. They'd like a showing, or for me to teach or give a talk. I think an art exhibit sounds fun and promise to come back to talk to the curator next week.

On the walk back home, I remember days when I would have been sure that they wouldn't have been interested in my long-eared lords and furry ladies. I wouldn't have been sure what to call myself. "I do science fiction and fantasy art" is an instant ticket to a tiny niche. But fairy tales have always belonged to everyone. Wise witches, wicked sorcerers, genies, talking animals, people who can fly, magic swords, golden looms... spaceships and little green men, all of it. There's not a human alive who isn't heir to all these things. Why assume that people who might never pick up a novel from the SF/F section wouldn't like fantasy? It makes no sense.

So now I'm "that fairy tale artist"... one of thousands of people who have put pencil to paper to that purpose. No niches; no assumptions.

I think that'll be my line in the future. "I illustrate fantasies." What excellent company that puts me in!

Subject:instructions for B.
Security:Public

Maybe it's because there is the hope of play with Amo this week, maybe it's the certainty that I will see Daddy the following weekend. But what ever it is my mood is getting better and a  certain sort of balance is coming back.

My poor B has been so patient that I tossed a nugget out to him today.  I want to see him on thursday and I wanted to plant a seed so he would be ready for me.

To say that I very much enjoyed hearing his vopice change and the way that I could tell he was really visualizing the task I gave him is a understatement.

the following is a snippet of our conversation this afternoon:

Me:  "So, how often do you think about me?"
B: "Everyday."
Me: "Tell me what are you doing when you picture yourself with me, What are you doing, what am I doing?"
B: "I am at your feet serving you, You are always above me and then it gets clouded, I can't think of what happens next."
Me: "Lair, you just don't want to tell me more right now. I understand but I will give you something to direct your thoughts for next thursday. I want to meet you then."
B: "Yes Carmen." (His voiced began to change here and that voice change went straight to my clit, immediately I was turned on.)
Me: " From now until thursday I want you  to picture the following everytime you think about me.  I want you kneeling in front of me and I  am commanding you to start jerking off for me. I want your eyes looking right into my eyes and I want you to tell me when you are getting close.'"
B: "Yes Carmen."
Me: "Know that I most likely have a pair of spiked heels that I will be digging in somewhere while you are doing this, I will be hurting you in a very annoying and painfull way  all the while you are jerking off.   When you are close, I want you to ask permission to cum."
B: "Yes Carmen, I understand."  (His voice has competely changed right now , yum.)
Me: "B, the last thing I want you to picture is that you do ask me for permission and then you are slapped and I say ...No.  You will then move your hands behind your back and kiss that foot that has been hurting you and you will say "Thank you, Carmen."
B: "You wouldn't be so mean ... would you?"
Me: "Yes I would and I will, but I want you to really think about the instructions I've given you.  I want to know if you can do that for me when we meet on Thursday.  I will call you tomorrow afternoon and you will tell me how you feel about it."
B: " Yes Carmen, one question...When can I call you Mistress?"
Me: "When you've earned it."
B: " I so want to earn it."

We ended the conversation with the agreement that he is also meeting Amo this weekend in ft myers since he lives half of the time in ft myers and the other time in Boca.

I do so hope that it will work out with B and myself and while I have not really pushed the relationship further, there is that Mistress slave connection there.  I do feel it from him and I am hoping that I can be worthy enough to be someone's Mistress once again. For right now I simply want to be Amo's and Daddy's girl.

Well, Wattsalpoag, our board game company, is doing -- or has done -- several trade shows and/or conventions this year. Things have unfortunately needed to change slightly from the plans we had a couple of months ago. Most notably, we won't be going to Australia this year, though we have found additional shows down under and plan to hit at least one of them in 2009. We're also looking into going to Japan in 2009 as well!

The 2008 Schedule )

Things are getting busier all the time!
